Reaching 25 years is a good moment to look back. Not to count the years, the matters or the achievements, but to reflect on what we have built together along the way.
When I started this journey, I could not know what the firm would look like a quarter of a century later. What I did know was the kind of legal practice I wanted to build: one founded on freedom of thought, professional rigor, responsibility and, above all, long-term trust.
Over these 25 years, a great deal has changed. Romania and the world have moved forward, the economy has evolved, clients and their challenges have shifted, technology has transformed the way we work, and the legal profession has become more complex and more competitive.
We have changed as well. We have grown, learned, made mistakes and become better. We have celebrated important successes and faced difficult moments. We have built professional relationships that have endured for years and, in some cases, decades. Yet the achievement of which I am probably most proud cannot be measured by rankings or numbers.

It is the people. The colleagues who are with us today and those who, at one point in their careers, were part of this firm, each contributing, in one way or another, to what Voicu & Asociații is today. Some remained with us for many years, others continued their journey elsewhere, and some are no longer with us. To all of them, we owe a part of our story.
We also owe a great deal to our clients. In the legal profession, trust cannot be bought. It is earned slowly and can be lost very quickly. The fact that so many clients have remained by our side for many years is, to me, one of the most meaningful confirmations of our work.

Over these 25 years, I have also come to understand something that, perhaps, I did not fully appreciate at the beginning of my career: a good lawyer is not the one who always has a pleasing answer. A good lawyer is the one who asks the right question, who has the courage to speak the professional truth even when it is not the answer the client hopes to hear, and who never forgets that beyond documents, figures, contracts and case files there are always people and real consequences.
I do not believe there is greater professional satisfaction for a lawyer than being able to help clients effectively and in a lasting manner. That has always been our purpose: to be catalysts for our clients’ business success.
A law firm is not built in a day, nor by a single person. It is built through thousands of small decisions made day after day, through the standards you choose to uphold even when no one requires you to, and through the people you help grow alongside you.
That is why this anniversary is less about the past and more about gratitude: to our colleagues, to those who have been part of our team throughout the years, to the clients who have placed their trust in us, and to our collaborators, partners and friends.
And it is also about what lies ahead.
No one knows what the legal profession will look like in another 25 years. Artificial intelligence, technology and economic change will likely transform our profession more profoundly than we can imagine today.
Yet there are things I do not want us to change: respect for people; freedom and creativity of thought; professional rigour; the courage to express a constructive opinion; and accountability for every piece of advice we give. Last but not least, I want us to preserve our commitment to our clients’ success, which is reflected in our individual achievements and in the success of the firm as a whole, together with the belief that reputation is not what you say about yourself, but what remains in others’ minds after they have worked with you over the long term.

For all of this, thank you.
And as we look ahead, we remain guided by the same values, the same trust and the same sense of direction that have been with us from the very beginning.
